Hollywood Studio Transforms the Analysis Process

The Challenge

Analysts at a large pharmaceutical manufacturer were faced with ever-changing priorities and requirements by their business stakeholders, often being required to make transformations to the underlying data to meet new requirements. This had created a complex web of interrelated transformations that was becoming unmanageable and confusing. Equally, both the visualisation layer and data management layers were suffering from poor performance and execution time.

The Solution 

As part of a wider deployment, PredictX deployed Hollywood Studio to the analyst team. This allowed the team to utilise the customisation capabilities inherent in Studio, and to use the same application suite for data management and visualisation. This meant that the entire web of data transformations that previously existed could be done away with, with existing visualisations customised quickly and seamlessly to meet the changing needs of the business. 

This also allowed the analyst team to work from the same dataset as the rest of the business, and to track what and where transformations had to be applied to the data. This meant the process was open, visible and auditable. 

The Impact

The recreation of all existing outputs took eight weeks, after which the previous toolset was retired, leading to:
