The Challenge
Our client, a multinational bank and financial services company, wanted to create visibility across all travel elements that would be deployed seamlessly across their business. However, they struggled with fragmentation across data sources, poor data quality, an incomplete view of travel, and a clunky, legacy data consolidation system. The client needed accurate data with detailed information to deliver cost savings and help ensure travel policy adherence.
The Solution
PredictX offered a fresh approach, utilising new technology and techniques to solve the bank’s data management and visibility problems. PredictX enabled the creation of an integrated travel solution that could accept information from different vendors in various formats. Machine-learning processes were brought in to bear on data errors and omissions, resulting in dramatically improved data quality. Pre-trip data was also included, using PredictX and third-party connectors to provide instant data.
Now our client benefits from a unified, harmonised data universe, stretching across fifty data sources, including automated cleansing, validation and management of data corrections. The dynamic visualisation PredictX provides also allows business users to self-serve. The bank can also automatically track the status of supplier contracts and report on the performance of those contracts using not just system-generated data but data collected and entered by their suppliers’ account managers.
The Impact
PredictX’s solution for the bank went live in 2014 across 42 countries and quickly resulted in remarkable benefits:
- Travel spend reduced significantly during the first year.
- Data accuracy jumped from 83% to 99%, meaning no more manual output audits.
- Reports were consolidated into dashboards rather than across multiple pdfs.
- Instant access was given to more up-to-date information.
- Cost and budget allocations were automated - before PredictX, this was a time-consuming manual process that could take two weeks or more to complete.
